Romancelvania- Pinup portrait pitch Sol

The client was looking to restyle their character portraits for the game Romancelvania (yall should check it out!) and they gave me permission to post. See more on their Kickstarter Page!

I spoke to them about their resources and designed multiple pitches to solve their needs from both an artistic and marketing/budget/personnel standpoint. This was the more work intensive choice as previous requests were designed to use 70% of the previously made anime styled artwork for cost reduction. In the end, they fell in love with my personal style that I've dubbed 'Pinup' as over the years I've studied old American Illustrators/painters such as Gil Elvgren, Rockwell, Gibson, and JC Leyendecker who then inspired mega comic book illustrator Adam Hughes. They served as inspiration for my mark making and general stylize proportion decisions which I carried over to this pitch. Following that, nailing down the mood for Romance, theater, monster, sexy was key for Romancelvania. I created the final Sol the Vampire piece and used that as a cornerstone for helping them to shape the rest of the restyled cast which is still in work. The final part was to train the select few of artists who were in line to redo the final artwork after the new style was established. I did this for them and am happy to say the awesome, dedicated work of the Romancelvania artists is paying off. Well done gals!
